On the morning of May 23, Ash, a one year-old gray and white Pit Bull, went missing from his home at Hanahan Fire Station #1 in Hanahan, South Carolina. The Hanahan firefighters quickly shared Ash’s photo on social media, and the news spread fast. Soon local animal shelters, businesses, news reporters and dog lovers in the community were searching for the beloved fire dog.

One local business owner who heard Ash’s story was Matthew Cormack, owner-operator of DogWatch of Greater Charleston. Matt shared Ash’s photo on his Facebook page, and called the fire station to let them know he would be happy to donate a hidden fence for Ash upon his return. Read post >

Hounds are famous for two things: their noses and their speed. And anyone who has ever lived with a beagle, bloodhound, greyhound, dachshund or other hound dog knows just how fast and determined they can be when chasing prey (or the neighbor’s cat).

DogWatch Dealers are often asked: “Can a hidden fence REALLY work for a hound?” The answer is yes! For over 30 years, DogWatch Dealers have been training hounds and hound mixes to stay in their yards with our hidden fences. We reached out to our Dealers and customers to learn more about the process of training hounds, their unique personalities and how adding an underground electronic fence to their property helped their pups stay safe and do what hounds love to do – sniff, run and play! Did you know that more than 10 million pets are lost each year in the United States, and one out of three pets will be lost during its lifetime? To bring attention to this issue, July has been designated Lost Pet Prevention Month, with the goals of increasing resources for preventing lost pets and relocating lost pets with their owners. July was chosen because July 5th is typically the busiest day for shelter intakes in the United States. The increase is shelter admissions on July 5th is attributed to dogs escaping their homes or running from their owners due to fear of 4th of July fireworks.

At DogWatch®, it’s our mission to keep pets safe. We are pet owners ourselves, and can understand the heartache that pet owners must feel when their pet is lost. We are dedicated to creating products than can help reduce the number of lost pets and give pet parents peace of mind that their dogs (and cats) will not be one of those 10 million lost each year. Koda, a 7 month old Saint Bernedoodle from Michigan, is a bundle of puppy energy. He loves to play tug of war with his three (human) brothers, and practically somersaults with joy when he spots another dog nearby. Koda is very popular with his neighbors, but is not popular with all of their dogs (especially the older ones, who prefer a little peace and quiet). Koda’s family needed a solution to help him exercise that puppy energy while at the same time staying safe in his yard. Enter Derrick and Rachael Woiderski of DogWatch by K9 Keeper Fencing LLC.

Koda’s story was like many they had heard before from their customers, with one big difference. Koda’s father Jason Sotke, a Grand Rapids police officer, was seriously injured in the line of duty last October. During an arrest, Jason was knocked to the ground and suffered a spinal cord injury that left him temporarily paralyzed and required surgery. Read post >
