When you picture Siberian Huskies, chances are you picture them in motion. Whether they are pulling a sled, running laps at the dog park or chasing squirrels, Huskies are among the most energetic and independent of all dog breeds. They are also well known “escape artists,” and can often be found digging under or leaping over fences.
Because of this reputation, pet parents often ask us: “Can a hidden fence really work for my Siberian Husky?”
Yes, it can! For over 30 years, DogWatch Dealers have been training Siberian Huskies, Husky mixes, Alaskan Malamutes and more to stay in their yards with our hidden fences. We reached out to our DogWatch Dealers and customers to learn more about the process of training Huskies, adjusting collars to work with their thick coats, and how adding an underground electronic fence to their property helped their smart and athletic pups enjoy their freedom! Pointers and Setters, Spaniels and Whippets, hunting dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and breeds. Different breeds of hunting dogs share one similarity: they’re bred to hunt alongside humans. Dogs have been hunting with humans for thousands of years, and there’s evidence that this relationship reaches back to prehistoric times.
Hunting dogs are athletic, loyal, intelligent, eager to please, and typically have tremendous stamina. These attributes often prove invaluable during a hunt. Breeds that fall into this category also possess a strong predatory drive.
When their prey drive is triggered, these dogs can find themselves in hazardous situations. When chasing prey your dog could end up in the middle of a busy street, on someone else’s property, in hunting territory, or even lost. A Hidden Fence from DogWatch® is a great way to ensure that your hunting dog stays safely on your property. Read post »

Pit Bulls are known to be loving, patient, brave, and loyal companions. Pit Bulls are not one specific breed, but a mix of several breeds, such as Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, and American Staffordshire Terrier. July 5th is usually the busiest day of the year for animal shelters in the United States due to the holiday that precedes it. Fireworks, large gatherings, flashing lights, and general noise causes many pets to panic and run away. While pets are at an increased risk of getting lost during holidays and celebrations, the fact is that pets are at risk of getting lost every day.
One in three pets get lost in their lifetime, and less than 23% of lost pets in the United States make it home. The number of dogs and cats that end up in animal shelters each year exceeds 4 million. Pet owners know how important it is to keep their four-legged family members safe and at home, and that’s why PetHub started Lost Pet Prevention Month in 2014. Celebrated every July, Lost Pet Prevention Month aims to spread awareness of lost pets, the pressure shelters feel during overpopulation, and what steps owners can take to keep their pets safe.

Terriers are known to be energetic, fearless, and independent. They seem to be on high alert at all times and can be reactive to even the slightest disturbance. Terriers are also known to be diggers and escape artists with a penchant for exploring their surroundings and occasionally resulting in a run-away dog. Terriers do not hesitate to stand up to larger dogs, and that can cause owners a great deal of anxiety when their four-legged family members get out.
Because of their high energy levels, escape skills, and desire to investigate yards of neighbors, terrier owners often assume that a hidden fence is not an option for them. Penny, a long-time DogWatch® customer from DogWatch® of Mid-Canada, thought just the same. Read post »

DogWatch® is proud to introduce our new Indoor Boundary system designed just for cats!
The new indoor system is designed to keep your cats safe and out of trouble – and out of the places cats should not be. The system includes an indoor transmitter, the CAT200, and a receiver collar specifically for cats, the CR7. Both the transmitter and the receiver use the same Digital FM technology found in our outdoor Hidden Fences and Mobile Boundaries for dogs.
The CAT200 transmitter is a dual-function Indoor Boundary. It can be used either with an attached boundary wire to keep cats in specific areas where you want them or away from larger areas, such as the dining room, kitchen countertops, living room furniture, etc. Or you can use it without a wire to protect a smaller “off-limits” area two to 10 feet in diameter (one to five feet from the center of the transmitter.) DogWatch® is proud to introduce our two newest Mobile Pet Boundaries:
The MB-1 Indoor/Outdoor Mobile Boundary is a versatile, waterproof, battery-operated mobile boundary used indoors or outdoors to create an “off-limits” area for your pet. This wireless system creates a pet-free zone two to eight feet in diameter (one to four feet from the center). The MB-1 transmitter has a rechargeable battery that can last up to 30 days on one charge.
The MB-2 Dual Function Indoor Boundary is our most flexible mobile solution to keep your pet safe inside and can be used either with or without a boundary wire. You can install the MB-2 with a wire to protect a large defined indoor area or you can use it without a wire for greater flexibility to protect smaller areas one to 13 feet in diameter (one to six-and-a-half feet from the center).
