ProFence FAQs
- My DogWatch Transmitter is beeping. What should I do?
If your hidden fence boundary loop wire breaks or the signal is interrupted, your DogWatch PT4 or PT6 Transmitter will emit an audible warning sound. If this happens, contact your local DogWatch Dealer for troubleshooting tips or to schedule a service call.
For more tips on how to find, fix and prevent wire break, check out our blog.
- How do I replace the battery on my ProFence receiver collar?
R9 Receiver: The R9 receiver is powered by a 3.6 volt lithium battery. The receiver is designed for a battery life of up to two years. The positive (+) end of the battery must be inserted down. For more detailed instructions, click here to view our How-To Video.
R7mini Receiver: The R7mini receiver is powered by a 3 volt (1/3 N) lithium battery. The receiver is designed for a battery life of up to 6 months. The negative (-) end of the battery must be inserted down. For more detailed instructions, click here to view our How-To Video.
- How do I adjust the training level on my ProFence receiver collar?
Your DogWatch Dealer will set the training level on your dog’s receiver at the appropriate level according to your dog’s personality and traits. If you need to change the training level on the receiver, hold the magnet on your ‘multi-tool’ to the training level adjustment location on the side of the receiver.
If you have an R9 receiver, the adjustment location is indicated by two perpendicular vertical lines on the side of the receiver. If you have an R7mini receiver, the adjustment location is indicated by a small rounded indentation on the side of the receiver. Hold the magnet steady to that location and you will hear a series of beeps that indicate the current training level.
The “Audible Only” level is one long beep, Level 1 is one short beep, Level 2 is two short beeps, Level 3 is three short beeps, etc. The training level will continue to advance while the magnet is held in position. When you reach the desired setting, pull the magnet away from the receiver. The receiver is now set.
For more detailed instructions, view our How-To Videos for the R9 and R7mini receivers. If you have any questions about selecting the appropriate training level for your pet, contact your local DogWatch Dealer.
- How do I properly fit my pet’s DogWatch receiver collar?
The DogWatch receiver collar should be worn snugly on the dog’s neck. If the collar is too loose, your dog may not receive the correct warning if they wander into the Avoidance Zone.
To test if your dog’s collar fits correctly, place your finger between the collar clasp and the back of your dog’s neck. If you can easily slide your hand in between the collar and your dog’s neck, the collar is too loose. If your finger fits snugly but comfortably, the collar fit is correct.
Should you need to adjust the collar fit, remember to first remove it from your dog’s neck. We also strongly recommend that you remove your dog’s receiver collar daily when not in use.
- How old does my dog have to be before training begins?
All dogs are different. Even within the same breed some dogs may mature earlier than others. Consult your local DogWatch Dealer, who will meet with you, evaluate your dog, and make a recommendation as to when training should begin.
